YouTube now in widescreen

Have you been to YouTube today and noticed something has changed? It has! The new feature is a widescreen player.

We’re expanding the width of the page to 960 pixels to better reflect the quality of the videos you create and the screens that you use to watch them. This new, wider player is in a widescreen aspect ratio which we hope will provide you with a cleaner, more powerful viewing experience. And don’t worry, your 4:3 aspect ratio videos will play just fine in this new player.

This is perfect for many users, especially for content creaters because many videos are shot with HD cameras and it can be a disappointed when you view your videos on YouTube with the black bars at the top and bottom of the video. Now you have bars at the sides of the video if they’ll shot in 4×3. Only problem is that the embedded video is not widescreen but that can be changed in the code. I wonder when they’ll roll out HD videos?
